This intensive six-week course prepares individuals fluent in both English and Spanish to begin careers in the financial services industry.

Mi Casa’s Bilingual Bank Teller training program was developed in partnership with local banks and reviewed and approved by banking institutions that provide customized training to new employees.

Topics covered in the course include:

  • Role of the bank and the bank teller
  • Banking products and services
  • Transaction processing
  • Check handling
  • Sales and customer service
  • Emergency procedures

Mi Casa staff provides job placement assistance to all participants who successfully complete our training programs.  All Development programs include financial and computer literacy training, assistance with resume writing, interviewing practice and job-search assistance.

Mi Casa Career Development programs are offered to the community and are paid for through various government and private grants.  Individuals must qualify for admission into any of the career development programs.

Pre-requirements for Bilingual Bank Teller training:

  • Negative drug test
  • Passing score on basic adult education proficiency test
  • Clean background - no criminal record
  • Satisfactory credit history
  • Occupational career test (assesses interest and appropriateness for program)
  • Motivation on the part of the applicant to find and keep employment
  • Oral interview to assess fluency in Spanish and English
  • GED or high school diploma required
