As a middle schooler, AJ participated in afterschool programs, as well as Mi Casa’s Student Services program where he received extra support in and out of the classroom. Mi Casa worked with AJ on goal setting and a plan to improve his grades and facilitate positive relationships at home.

At Mi Casa, AJ loved the technology clubs, including Robotics where he got to create his own video games on the computer. Despite a sometimes challenging situation at home, AJ blossomed into a leader at the Mi Casa Neighborhood Center. AJ’s family has struggled with homelessness in recent years, but AJ found extra support at Mi Casa that helped him get his homework done and develop his diverse interests.

Now AJ is in high school at the Career Education Center and plans to major in computer programming. The next step for AJ is college; after that he’s not sure. AJ hopes his career path will combine his love for technology, business and the culinary arts.
